Provincial Board Sessions in Pozorrubio
by Jing Villamil

The Provincial Board Members and their Chair, Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias Agabas were in official attendance and in their required office garb.

They formed their own straight line infront of the Executive Building among the rank and file of the municipality of Pozorrubio for the regular Monday flag-raising ritual this January 11, 2008. They sang the Pambansang Awit ; they pledged allegiance to the nation. They applauded the formal presentation to the public and the awarding of cash incentives (P500 for each and every gold, silver or bronze) to the almost  a hundred young athletes from the town’s elementary and secondary schools  who won in the just-concluded Congressional and Division Sports Meet , thus making Pozorrubio’s unit the Overall Champion, a proud record to take to the coming IRAA event.

This outreach program, of bringing the provincial legislative body out of the “sterile” halls of Lingayen, to where the members can breathe the air, the soil and the sweat of the place and the people most concerned in the laws they formulate and the resolutions they approve or disapprove – this is a fresh and welcome innovation in the field of legislation. And only during this present term that it is being implemented in full scale.

Pozorrubio is the 1st outreach site among the eight towns of the 5th District.  After the flag-raising ceremony, the Board conducted a “working-breakfast” at the Social Hall on the 3rd Floor of the Executive Building, with the town’s administrative and legislative officials and also with the mayors, the vice-mayors of the other towns of the 5th District. The meeting lasted for almost 3 hours. The Board then proceeded to Urdaneta City for their “working-lunch”.

The outreach schedule goes back full cycle to the 5th District at the end of 6 months after going through all the 6 districts of Pangasinan.
